I arrived in Cebu in the summer of 2012 with nothing but a camera, a notebook, and a hunger to document the soul of the Visayas. Cebu was vibrant, a symphony of history and modern ambition. It was clear about what it offered: the warmth of the people, the depth of its heritage, and the quiet majesty of its natural wonders. I wanted to build a space that truly honored this.

For over a decade, I traveled the islands. I walked the narrow streets of Colon, I sat with elders in mountain villages, and I learned the rhythm of the sea from local fishermen. I learned that the true story of Cebu isn't found in the guidebooks, but in the shared meals, the quiet prayers at the Basilica, and the resilience of those who call these islands home. None of this was wasted. All of it was discovery.

When the vision for CebuVista finally crystallized in 2023, I spent weeks wandering the coast, watching the sunrise over the Mactan Channel. I thought about the history of the island — the trade routes, the festivals, the way the light hits the limestone cliffs at dusk. CebuVista was born from that deep, abiding respect for the land and its people.

We are not a typical travel site. We do not chase the fleeting trends of mass tourism. We curate with the patience that Cebu taught me — the patience to wait for the perfect light, the patience to listen to the stories that define our culture, and the patience to present them with the dignity they deserve. Authenticity is, I think, the most generous thing we can offer our readers.

Our content evolves as the island changes, and our team — Maria, Jun, and the many others who work behind the scenes — are partners in this mission. We debate the details. We verify the history. We refine every image until it feels like a memory. This is the only way I know how to tell a story, and it is the only way I want to.
